Are the Pacers an Option for LeBron?

Tuesday afternoon, a video from TMZ surfaced in which Victor Oladipo had a message for LeBron James: “If you want to win, come to Indy.” A simple, clear, and bold message.

Victor’s statement wasn’t, “if you come here, we will win”. It wasn’t “if you want to win, come to Indy and we have a shot.”

It was: “If you want to win, come to Indy.”

Confident. Powerful. Assured. Victor seems poised to win no matter what. Whether LeBron would come to Indy or whether he ends up in LA, Victor plans on winning. That’s the message you want to hear from the NBA’s Most Improved Player and unquestionable leader of the Pacers. It shows confidence not just in himself, but in his teammates, his coaching staff, and possibly most importantly the front office. Less than 24 hours after fan favorite Lance Stephenson’s team option was declined, Victor steps up and says, we got this.

But just for fun, let’s take a look at what a possible Pacers lineup would look like with LeBron in Indy.

  • PG: Darren Collison
  • SG: Victor Oladipo
  • SF: Bojan Bogdanovic
  • PF: LeBron James
  • C: Myles Turner
  • Bench: Aaron Holiday, Domantas Sabonis, TJ Leaf, Luc Mbah a Moute, Mario Hezonja, and Cory Joseph.

Provided the younger guys like Sabonis, Turner, and Leaf continue to progress, this looks like a Finals team that could give Golden State a run for it. Let’s be honest, this isn’t going to happen. Always fun to imagine the best player in the world on your team, though.

Until then, In Victor We Trust.
